When you began to book your stay at Sandals Resort, the rooms with Butler Service are going to catch your eye. Butler-level suites are the most upscale accommodations at a Sandals resort, and they come with the services of a personal butler.

For some guest, Bulter service is a necessity to fully enjoy a Sandals trip, while other guest find it intrusive. We are sharing our experience to help you make the choice if Butler Service at Sandals is a good fit for you.

Before You Arrive

Before you arrive, you’ll fill out a questionnaire that lets them know about your preferences, which they will then follow. Some of the most common butler requests are breakfast in bed, romantic dinners, arranging special extras like bubble baths and flower petals, and setting up excursions.

I also bring the preference sheet with additional notes and hand it to the butler. Sometimes they will be completely prepared for you while other times we notice if they missed some details on the list.

Upon Arrival

When you arrive at the airport you may already notice a difference in your experience.

Depending on the resort and suite, it may include a private airport transfer to the resort.

When you arrive at the resort, you will definitely notice a difference.

• Your butler will escort you to your room and complete check-in there
• In your room, you can expect to have your room stocked with your requested drink preferences and any other additional requests.
• If you prefer, your butler will unpack your luggage for you. I’ve never felt the need to have them do this, but it is available to you.
• At this point, they will tell you all about the resort and the services they provide. This is a great time to ask any questions about Butler Service.
• You will receive a butler phone so you can call the butler at any time and visa versa.
• This is a great time to share any dinner preferences with your butler so they can make or change any dinner reservations.
• Let your Butler know of any Spa treatments or excursions you would like to go on during your stay so they can help you arrange them.

During Your Stay

With a butler to assist you during your stay, you can have an amazing experience.

• Each day they will ask you where you would like to have a beach or pool chair set up for you the following day. They will then have chairs with towels and a cooler ready for you.
• When they know where you are, they will bring you any drinks or snacks during the day. This is when telling your butler your drink preferences comes in handy.
• They will likely stop by with things you did not specifically order, but if you want something specific just give them a call or a text.
• Keep in mind they have other guests as well so it is best to let them know your requests like drink or food orders with at least 30 minutes notice, but one hour is even better.
• If you would like for them to escort you to dinner they will. We do not think this is necessary and go on our own.
• You will likely find snacks in your room in the middle of the day which are great to hold you over till dinner. I always request coconut shrimp.
• Your butler may invite you to additional Bulter Suite activities including cocktail hours, wine tastings and short excursions. For example, while at Sandals Saint Vincent we went on the Butler Suite Sunset Cruise which included seeing dolphins and the volcano.
• Additional services are available depending on what you ask for. No need to be shy.

Personalize Your Sandals Butler Service

You really get the most of Butler service is you ask them for things that will make a difference in your stay. Here are a few examples of things that butlers have done that made a huge different.

• Served us a romantic dinner in our room with food from multiple restaurants.
• Brought us popcorn so we could have a movie night in our room.
• Brought us lattes at the same time each morning.
• Brought us a cooler and frozen drinks throughout the day when we wanted to relax in our private pool the entire time.
• Brought us a cake to help us celebrate a birthday.

Setting Boundaries with the Butler Team

This may seem strange, but we hear complaints about guest feeling like the butlers were intrusive. If this feels like what is happening its ok to set some boundaries. I have told butlers that we do not want to be disturbed for a period of time. I have also turned my butler phone off and unplugged to room phone. We tell every butler that we do not need to be escorted to dinner. Do not be afraid of offending the bulter with this request, they have other guest they can give more attention to.

Should You Tip a Sandals Butler?

Although most Sandals employees are not allowed to accept tips, butlers are the exception (in addition to spa staff). Because they go above and beyond, they should definitely be tipped. How much is up to you, but we recommend at least $25 per butler per day. Each day there are usually 2 butlers.

What Rooms at Sandals Resorts Come with Butler Service?

Sandals offers three levels of rooms: luxury, club, and butler. The butler rooms are the nicest, with the most unique designs and extra amenities. In addition to butler service, these include the best views in the resort, luxurious furnishings, Egyptian cotton linens, a pillow menu, 24-hour room service, a full bar in the room with wine and top-shelf spirits that’s restocked daily, robes and slippers, access to the Club level private lounge and Club Sandals activities, a weekly cocktail party, and private airport transfers in elegant cars like BMWs, Mercedes, and Rolls Royces.

The suites are spacious and feature special touches like oversized soaking tubs for two and private pools. Some of the best butler suites are overwater bungalows, Rondoval suites, SkyPool suites, and Millionaire Blufftop Suites. All rooms and suites that offer butler service will have “Butler” in the name.

While you can find butler suites at every Sandals resort, Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica is an all-butler-suite resort.

Is Sandals Butler Service Worth It?

Whether Sandals butler service is worth it depends on your preferences. While it’s not necessary in order to have a good experience at Sandals, it will elevate your vacation to a truly indulgent level. If you want to feel spoiled and completely carefree, we highly recommend it. Butler service is especially popular for special occasion trips like honeymoons and anniversaries.
