Most Sandals vacations go smoothly without any issues, but sometimes things do not go exactly as planned. A trip may need to be postponed due to a hurricane or family emergency. During the trip there could be a medical emergency or other issue that could be very costly to resolve. During these situations it is best to have Travel Insurance available to step in and take care of the financial ramifications.
Note that since the family-friendly all-inclusive Beaches Resorts are owned by the same company as Sandals, all of this information applies to Beaches travel insurance as well.

Current Deals at Sandals
Before we get started on our list of best Sandals Resorts, we know price makes a difference for everyone. We recommend checking for the latest deals and specials when considering which resort you will book. For example, there may be a better deal at Sandals Royal Barbados with Sandals Barbados right next door or there might be a 777 deal available.
Sandals resorts offer a travel insurance plan that you can purchase when you make your reservations. This plan has coverage you might need in case of emergency situations or unexpected issues that force you to cancel your trip or end it early.
Sandals travel insurance covers things like cancellation penalties if you have to cancel the trip in advance, lost baggage, trip interruptions, medical expenses, and emergency evacuation.
Although this plan is through a third-party provider, you can easily add it during the Sandals booking process.

Why get Sandals travel insurance?
When you’re planning a vacation, the last thing you want to think about is something going wrong. But getting travel insurance gives you peace of mind, ensuring that in case anything does happen, you’ll be covered.
If you’ve priced Sandals vacations, you’ll know that they aren’t cheap. Even the most affordable Sandals resort is a significant investment, and it would be a shame to lose that money due to circumstances beyond your control.
Having a Sandals travel insurance plan in place means that you’ll be protected in the event of trip cancellations, travel delays, losing your luggage, medical expenses during your trip, and even emergency evacuations if necessary.
An all-inclusive vacation is stress-free because everything is taken care of up front. When you add travel insurance, it becomes even more stress-free. You won’t need to worry about an unexpected illness or event causing you to cancel your trip and lose your prepaid fees, or the airline losing your luggage and having to spend a lot out of pocket to buy new clothes.
Perhaps one of the best reasons to buy Sandals travel insurance is hurricanes. Hurricane season runs from June to November and can be very unpredictable in the Caribbean. If you’re visiting a Sandals resort during that time, insurance will take care of you if your trip is cancelled or cut short by a storm—or if you need to evacuate at the last minute.
And while no one wants to think about getting sick or hurt while on a fun vacation, it can happen. Sandals travel insurance will cover expenses arising from having to go to the doctor or hospital during your trip.
Who is the Sandals travel insurance provider?
Sandals travel insurance is provided by TripMate, a third-party provider based in Florida.
What does Sandals Resort insurance cover?
Sandals resort insurance covers:
- Trip interruption and cancellation including flight delays
- Changing trip for any reason: get a travel certificate for later use
- Canceling trip for covered reason: get a 100% refund on any unused portion of your stay, including tours
- $50,000 emergency evacuation
- $25,000 medical protection
- $2,500 baggage protection for delayed, damaged, or lost luggage
It doesn’t cover treatment for pre-existing medical conditions, losses due to negligence, or injuries due to high-risk activities. We recommend reading the policy fully to make sure it covers everything that you need it to.

Sandals Travel Insurance Cost
The Sandals travel insurance cost is currently $124 per person from January 3-December 20, or $134 per person from December 21 to January 2. The cost goes down if you’re also buying your flights through Sandals.
Payment is required in full at the time of purchase and is nonrefundable. You can add travel insurance to your booking at any time before the final payment is made.
How do you get Sandals travel insurance?
You can add Sandals travel insurance during the last step of the online booking process at the Sandals website. If you would like to add it later, but before the final payment is made you can call Sandals or use the chat function on their website.
If you’re using a Sandals travel agent like us to book your trip, we can add it for you.
Once it’s paid, you’ll receive all the plan information.

Filing a Claim with Sandals Travel Insurance
It’s easy to file a claim with Sandals travel insurance; you’ll do so through the provider, TripMate. Be sure to keep all related receipts and take detailed notes about whatever claim you’re making. Contact TripMate as soon as possible (we suggest programming their phone number into your phone) to get the claim process started.
For example, if you are injured during your trip and need to go to the hospital, let TripMate know as soon as you can and save all related receipts and reports. If your baggage is lost and you have to buy new clothes and travel items, call them as soon as you can and provide the documentation from the airline as well as all receipts for what you purchased.
Using Another Travel Insurance Provider
You can always use travel insurance outside of what Sandals Resorts provides. It will always be more expensive, but can also add additional coverage like a “Cancel for any reason” Policy. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before purchasing to know what is and isn’t covered. This is something we can also help with.
